Nagy, Jicha, Duvnjak and Karabatić

According to the handball portal handball-planet.com, who had a commission of 24 handball journalists, and numerous visitors of the portal, the French handball player Nikola Karabatić was named as the 2014 handball player of the year, thereby succeeding Domagoj Duvnjak.
Karabatić, who won gold with France at the European Championship, and all the trophies in Spain with Barcelona, and the bronze medal in the Champions League, got 88 votes.

After having won the coveted title of the best handball player of the year in 2013, and also being the best centre back, in 2014 Domagoj took second place in the selection for the best centre back: Karabatić was first with the aforementioned 88 votes, Domagoj came second with 43 votes (third was the Icelander Aron Pálmarsson with 39 votes, Spaniard Joan Canellas was fourth with 16 votes...).

The handball-planet.com award has been presented since 2011. The first recipient was the Hungarian Laszlo Nagy, and one year later Czech Filip Jicha got the award.
